Thanks to Karen at Sea to Sky Ocean Sports our short vacation to Whistler allowed me a chance to dive Porteau Cove in Howe Sound.

Karens Kayak and Dive center in Squamish welcomed me with open arms and quickly connected me with local diver Lori Johanna. Lori was happy to get a dive in mid week and so we got our tanks from Karen and headed down to Porteau Cove about 20 minutes drive south of Squamish.

This was a great dive, an impressive number of good size Ling Cod hang out amongst the artificial reefs that were created at this site for local divers. Three vessels and two tire reefs as well as numerous concrete blocks and steel beam make up this unique habitat.

The other creatures we found here, were several good size War Bonnets, grunt sculpins, an Octupus and a fair number of rock fish.

An evening dive two days later found a number of Sculpins more Lings and rockfish.

Thanks to Lori, Don  and Roger for the Diving and Karen for the great Dive center that brought us all together.

On a closing note  while I am  struggling against the current on my surface swim back to the break water admiring the cloud formations above I took this picture because I knew no one would believe me. So you tell me what you see.
