WEBMASTER TIPS & TOOLS:

This does not look like Kansas anymore.

The internet has certainly changed the way we view the world, I have worked in information systems for some 25 years, I still have my wire wrap tools, and a few punch cards lying around just to remind me, how it's changed.

I used various text editors in the beginning to do websites and programming, but needing more management and needing to rely on my memory less for syntax I have moved to more sophisticated some would say cumbersome tools to do the work.

I have learned a lot and find there is always more to learn, to be honest I would rather be diving. This page is just about the tools I use and some of the cool software and add-ons that I have found, I f I have used someone else's code or tool I have listed it below for you to check out and use if you see fit. Where and when I can I send these folks donation for the good work I hope you can too.

I have used Front page for close to 9 years, recently I discovered Web Expression, and have imported and converted the entire website in hopes that some of the serious problems with FP might have been solved in the intervening years.

To say the least it's been a real challenge some of the original problems still seem to be around and perhaps a few new ones have been added at this point Oct 29 2008 I have managed to get the site good enough to publish, now I look for problems and fix them, yep I have seen a few already.

Other than look I am not sure what is new certainly there are new features that I have not looked at. I would sooner switch to a new editor except that I have not found one that does borders like FP does. I am not even sure if borders are a feature of Expression as there seems to be no button, but they do still work after a fashion.

Any suggestions or help much appreciated.

Over the years I gave found and integrated some cool tools which I list here, this is a new page and a work in progress so I will fix the details later. Right now I am just trying to get the site up and running again with a bit of a new look, thanks to fish eye (cool huh) and expression. Check back later, I usually hit the editor once a month more at times like this.
